The geo taxonomy is created and updated automatically based on the Google Geolocation API. Therefore undesired results can happen from time to time.
We have documented the two common cases below with instructions on how you can easily fix these cases within the taxonomy manager.
Case 1: When inserting "Location A", the system shows "Location B" after saving
- Go to this link: /admin/structure/taxonomy_manager/voc/geography
- Make sure that the correct term "Location A" already exists in the system. If not, then create the term underneath the correct parent term within the taxonomy manager and add coodinates, country and the postal code. This information with help the system to identify the term more easily.
- Edit the old term "Location B" by removing:
- Synonyms belonging to "Location A" and not to "Location B"
- Child terms belonging to Location A (e.g. specific streets): merge with the new / correct term and make sure to add them as synonyms instead - Edit the term "Location A" by adding the synonyms previously belonging to the wrong term
Case 2: When inserting "Location A", the system shows the wrong name of "Location A" after saving (e.g. a street of Location A)
- Go to this link: /admin/structure/taxonomy_manager/voc/geography
- Use the term search and paste the wrong name (e.g. street of Location A). Make sure to look at all suggested terms to ensure that the name is not due to a synonym that was accidentially created in the wrong place
- If that is not the case and you are sure that it actually mapped to the correct term, make sure that the field "Formatted Address" is available (Note: this needs to be enabled once on demand, so please reach out to your point of contact if that is not the case). Use this field to correct the wrongly saved address that is being displayed.
