The multilingual feature allows frontend users to access a job board in two or more languages.
The purpose of the feature is to attract international users and, thus, increase the international market share. In addition, decreasing the language barrier for international clients can ultimately reduce the direct customer support time needed.
Navigation
Both applicant and employer users can navigate the site in selected languages. While Jobiqo allows setting a default language, the browser settings of a user already determine the language version when accessing the job board. Thus, the language switcher is placed on the left bottom of the footer menu and is applicable for any user role in the frontend.

Depending on the language chosen, taxonomy terms, menus, landing pages, consent information, and other text strings are shown in the chosen language (see examples below).
User-created content
Depending on which language is set via the language switcher, the forms appear in the selected language. Note that user-generated content, such as jobs, company profiles, resumes and CVs are not translateable and thus appear in one language only (decided by the user, who is creating the content).
Job search / Organisation search
The job search allows applicants to find jobs that were created in any language. Therefore, the job search does not filter for the language of a job.
While taxonomies are translated (meaning that the same number of jobs is found if a user searches for jobs tagged with the taxonomy term "Full-time" or "Vollzeit"), open text fields of jobs are not translated. When searching for a free-text keyword (e.g. 'flexible working hours'), the applicant may not see all of the results when inserting the keyword in one language only.
Both the job search and company (if no search term or filter applied) always show the same (amount of) jobs in any language.
The same also applies to the organisation search.
Preparations before the roll-out
For pricing details, please reach out to your main contact point at Jobiqo. After all contractual matters are clear, please let us know:
- Which languages do you wish to support on your job board?
- Which language should be the default language?
- Following translation preparations can be done already in advance, e.g. in a Word or Excel document:
- Landing pages, including the URL of the landing pages.
- Taxonomy terms
- GDPR consent information
Tasks after the roll-out
After the implementation has been completed by Jobiqo, it's your turn to insert the implementations for both landing pages and taxonomy terms.
Landing pages
- Go to the landing page you would like to translate
- Click on the tab "Translate"
- Now you can add a new translation by clicking on "Add" in the row of the additional language (e.g. German).
- The system creates a copy of the original version.
- Common changes you can now perform:
- Landing page text
- Title (e.g. Impressum / Imprint): Mind this is a public field and represents your meta title per default.
- Create separate URL if needed (e.g. /produkte and /products)
- Save the changes
Taxonomy terms
Generally, we can work with automated scripts to create translations of your taxonomy terms. If you can prepare a proper term mapping we are happy to support you in automatically translating the terms.

This table shows an example of the 'Occupational fields' taxonomy. If you wish our support in regards to translating the terms we ask you to prepare a term mapping in a spreadsheet.
In some cases, however, you may need to update existing taxonomy terms. In this case, please follow the steps described below:
- Go to /admin/structure/taxonomy_manager/voc
- Select a vocabulary (e.g. Degree level)
- Click onto the term you want to translate, and a form on the right side of the interface pops up.
- Search for the section "Translate fields", select the language and insert a new name. If needed, please generate a new URL alias.
- Save the changes
GDPR-related content
During the project delivery, your point of contact may have already asked you to prepare the statements for GDPR-related content (see screenshot below). Please make sure to provide your point of contact at Jobiqo with the translations for all supported languages.

Furthermore, translations for menus, emails and text translations also need to be reviewed. For some languages (especially German and English), Jobiqo can provide default translations. For any other language, we will ask you to provide the correct translations. Your point of contact will give you all the details.
