Credit subtraction automatically deducts one credit from an organisation’s balance when a job is imported and published.
You can use the same credit type for all jobs from a feed or let the XML feed specify which credit type each job should use.
Important: Credit subtraction only works when jobs are assigned to an organisation. Set up organisation mapping first so the importer knows which organisation’s credit balance to use.
Where can I find the settings?
- Go to Jobs > Job Importers or open /admin/content/feed and open the relevant importer.
- Select the Edit tab.
- Expand “Organization Settings”.
- Find “Credit subtraction settings” and enable “Credit subtraction”.
This section also contains the organisation mapping settings. You can assign all jobs to one organisation using “Organization reference” or match jobs to different organisations using the organisation mapping options.
Choose how credit types are assigned
Choose the mode that matches how you want to manage credits:
Use the same credit type for all jobs
Use Single mode when every job from the feed should consume the same type of credit.
- Enable “Credit subtraction”.
- Select “single” from the mode dropdown.
- Under “Credit types”, select the credit type to use.
- Save your changes.
The available credit types are shown as a list of checkboxes.
Each job imported and published consumes one credit of the selected type from its assigned organisation. If the feed contains jobs from several organisations, each organisation uses its own balance.
Use different credit types for individual jobs
Use Multiple mode when the feed specifies which credit type each job should use.
- Enable “Credit subtraction”.
- Select “multiple” from the mode dropdown.
- Under “Credit types”, select the credit types the importer should use.
- Configure the XPath mapping to tell the importer where to find the credit information for each job.
- Save your changes.
The XPath points to the credit information within each job’s XML data. Enter the path to that information, not the credit name itself.
The credit information in the feed must identify an existing credit type in your system. If it is missing or does not match an existing credit type, the job is imported with the state “Needs review” rather than published.
When are credits deducted?
One credit is deducted when the importer publishes a new job with credit subtraction enabled.
Routine imports that update an already-published job do not deduct another credit.
However, if a job is removed from the feed, unpublished and later added back, the importer treats it as a new job. Publishing it again through the importer deducts another credit.
What happens when a job needs review?
A job can still be imported even if the organisation has no credits available or the feed does not provide valid credit information. In these cases, it is held in “Needs review” instead of being published.
Check:
- Whether the job is assigned to the correct organisation.
- Whether that organisation has credits available of the required type.
- Whether the intended credit type is selected in the importer.
- For Multiple mode, whether the XPath points to the correct credit information and the value matches an existing credit type.
Publishing a job manually from review does not deduct a credit. Reindexing jobs or republishing them through a backend bulk operation does not deduct credits either.
If credit deduction is required, they need to be deduced manually.
Where can I check credit deductions?
Open the organisation’s credit history to review deductions made by the importer. A "Credit deductions" tab is available on the importer level as well. Use this to confirm that credits have deducted correctly.
Test the setup before a full import
Start with a small batch and check that:
- Jobs are assigned to the correct organisations.
- The intended credit type is used.
- Each newly imported and published job consumes one credit.
- Jobs without sufficient credits or valid credit information are held for review.
If “Jobs need review” setting is enabled during testing, no credits will be deducted. This lets you review the imported content, but it does not test the deduction itself.
Turn off credit subtraction
To stop automatic deductions for the importer, turn off “Credit subtraction” and save your changes.
