An XML job export lets you share job postings with third-party sites, such as job aggregators. It provides job data in a standardized file that a partner can import into its own platform.
This can help increase the reach of individual job postings—for example, when you offer employers a crossposting upgrade.
How does the export work?
The export creates an XML file using a default format. Your partner can import this file to display the jobs on its platform.
- Setup: The XML job export requires an additional module to be enabled on your site. Contact your Project Manager or CSM to arrange activation and setup. Once enabled, the Exports menu item becomes visible in the backend.
- Configuration: You can choose which jobs to include using filters, such as occupations, organizations or crossposting upgrades.
- Frequency: You can configure how often the export runs.
- Backfill jobs: You can include or exclude backfill jobs.
- Visibility: The partner site controls how jobs appear on its platform and how they are ranked.
The XML job export helps increase the visibility of individual jobs rather than drive general traffic to your job board, as job widgets do. Where candidates apply depends on the application workflow configured for the job on your board. With an internal application workflow, candidates are directed to your job board to apply. With an external application workflow, they are directed to the external application page instead.
How can I get started?
Before setting up an export, agree with your partner on:
- Which jobs should be included.
- Which job information they need.
- Whether they can use the standard XML format.
- How often the export needs to be updated.
Once the module is enabled, you can create and manage feeds through Exports in the backend.
There are two configuration views:
- Simple Export provides the main feed settings, with technical options predefined.
- Advanced Export provides access to additional settings, such as language filters, the exported field list and URL settings.
Create a feed using Simple Export
Enter a name for the feed. You can also add an optional description, which appears in the feed list.
Then configure which jobs to include and how often the export should run:
Different filter types work together: a job must meet each configured condition. For example, if you select two occupations and one upgrade, a job must match at least one of those occupations and have the selected upgrade.
Simple Export includes published jobs in the site’s default language. The generated feed is publicly accessible by default.
Save the feed to create it and run the first export automatically. You will then return to the feed list.
What information is included?
The standard job export is configured to include the following information:
The field list is predefined in Simple Export. It can be adjusted in Advanced Export using fields available in the system’s search index.
The current export supports jobs and blog posts only. Other content, such as resumes or organization profiles, is not currently supported.
Changes to the XML export format require developer support. Contact your Project Manager or CSM if you or your partner needs a different format.
How often is the export updated?
Exports run at a configured interval. Daily is the default and recommended interval, as large exports can take time to generate. In Simple Export, you can select:
- Daily
- Weekly
- Custom, with an interval entered in minutes.
Administrators can also generate an export manually. Select the relevant export in the list and click “Create export”. Once it is generated, the confirmation message provides the export URL.
Can I edit an existing feed?
You can edit an existing feed in either Simple Export or Advanced Export. Its saved settings are retained when you open it for editing.
